Wedding Planning in DC Part 2 click here to view entry

Everything is starting to come together for my upcoming wedding at the Whittemore House in September. We have finally picked all of our vendors, I knew what I was looking for, but it wasn’t easy deciding who to finally book. Any vendor can do a job, but in addition to being great at what they do, these vendors are wonderful people to work with. Feel free to contact me at anytime if you are in the beginning stages of planning your wedding, with over 10 years of experience of working weddings in the DC area and now planning my own, I can offer advice on what to look for and how to find the best deals.

Caterer: Spilled Milk Catering
I’ve eaten a lot of beef and chicken dinners over the years as a DJ. I was looking for something a little more non-tradtional. We are having an eclectic mix of appetizers including my favorite: mini cuban sandwiches. Dinner will be buffet style with salmon, fish tacos, a burger slider bar, and Greek chicken skewers with other side dishes.

Officiant: Jeff Maszal: Weddingceremoniesbyjeff.com
We are having our ceremony on site and I have worked with Jeff on past ceremonies, I didn’t even consider anyone else.

Music: Black Tie DJs
Of course I’m using a DJ, I wouldn’t consider anyone else but Black Tie DJs, I have been DJing weddings for Black Tie for over 10 years and I know several of their DJs and the owner. I’ll be using them for the cocktails and dinner and dancing portions. I am lucky and have cousins that are professional classical musicans that will be providing ceremony music, but if I didn’t I would have Black Tie provide the ceremony music.

Photography: Carly Glazier
Personality is important when it comes to photographers. Carly takes beautiful photos, but is also incredibly professional and organized. My fiance works with photographers on a regular basis for her job and wanted Carly for our wedding.

Invitations: Tabibi Design
My fiance found Tina Tabibi through a wedding blog and we both liked her work. We wanted a really creative non-traditional invitation suite and that is her specialty, plus her rates were very reasonable.

Flowers: Love Blooms
Emily Harmon was able to work within our budget and come up with floral designs that my fiance wanted. She was really patient, understanding, informative and affordable.

Hair and Makeup: Bridal Beauty Associates
My fiance wanted hair and makeup services at the hotel the day of the wedding.  Suzanne and Krystal are knowledgeable, professional and very nice.

Transportation: Linder Associates
We needed transporation to drive the bridal party around for pictures and this company was very reasonable and said we could even have guests picked up at nearby hotels to be dropped off at the venue during the window of time we booked.
